As part of a larger digital transformation effort, financial services provider FIS was already moving its workforce to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop when COVID-19 forced the company to hasten their adoption. Within a week of deployment, FIS had about 6,000 users with around 1,500 concurrent Azure Virtual Desktop instances. Each environment can be tailored, which especially helps in-house developers gain quick access to the specialized tools they need.
Staff can be onboarded and offboarded quickly without having to configure or decommission hardware, or even visit the office. Contingent staff receive temporary, project-specific access to everything they need for their assigned tasks. Management of security and privacy are simplified, and access to virtual resources can be monitored and audited by a centralized administration team.
